Now that the hype has sort of died down and the people that pretended to care about Trayvon Martin have ceased to post on Twitter and Facebook, I wanted to interject an observation I noticed from the controversy and hopefully shun those in the media and the C.E.O’s of the mega corporation known as Big Race.
Ground zero of this media circus that engulfed the Trayvon/Zimmerman case began when I heard that the Newspaper of Record, the New York Time, described George Zimmerman as a White Hispanic. And like Mrs. O’Leary’s cow karate kicking the lantern, a narrative had been set in which a white man (Zimmerman if you’ve been living under a rock) gunned down and a black child (Trayvon if you have been living under two).
Once the New York Times had set the stage, the deluge of articles hailing from magazines and newspapers picked up where the Times left off with deceiving articles about an American Tragedy. In comes Al Sharpton, who quickly snatched the spotlight and provided the sort of dialogue that only Sharpton can deliver.
New Rule: if Al Sharpton is the self-appointed spokesman for justice in any given event, wait 3 month before forming an opinion. A broken clock is in fact correct twice a day, so I will not make an absolute statement that Sharpton will never stumble upon an instance of racial injustice. But Sharpton’s public record as a head cheerleader for racial justice qualifies him to be more like a clock that is always 5 minutes behind.
The initial narrative the New York Times set in motion was to put emphasis on the WHITE part of Zimmerman’s race, and less so on his Peruvian roots (Do Peruvians even liked being called Hispanic?). If nothing else we finally have the New York Times admitting that in some instances, WHITE is indeed RIGHT. What the New York Times failed to see was that they change the concept of race identity in the United States forever!
Case in point: President Barack Obama was born of a black Kenyan father and a white Kansasian mother. In 2008, we were told that America made history because we now had the first black President of the United States. However, in the light of George Zimmerman’s newfound race, we will have to air brush over history and declare that in 2008, the United States of America had its first White African American (Or White Black for short) elected President. Damn it! We still have a white guy in the White House. #racist
Not to beat an already dead and bloated horse, butit appears that the NON-WHITE side of multiracial inspires people towards great accomplishments, but the WHITE side is to blame for any injustice. Let this be a warning to all about the “whiteness of President Obama because, according to Chris Rock, his whiteness is there.
Christopher Hitchens was able to see through the shifting sand that is at the foundation of racial politics. “Mixed race”, as opposed to “black” is quickly becoming the preferred term, both for self-determining people of multi-ethnicity, and other observers. “We do not have our first black president,” stated author Christopher Hitchens on the BBC’s Newsnight in December 2008. “He is not black. He is as black as he is white.”
Morgan Freeman (A black man last time I checked) shares a similar opinion in saying that, ““America’s first black president hasn’t arisen yet. He’s not America’s first black president — he’s America’s first mixed-race president.” He continued, “[People] just conveniently forget that Barack had a mama, and she was white — very white American, Kansas, middle of America.”
The cognitive dissonance needed to contort racial identity in this manner is not quite enough to make my nose bleed, but it does prove that the most ardent Klansman or club wielding Black Panther devotee has a more evolved and consistent notion of race. White is white. Black is black. Mixed-race is mixed-race.
Regardless of what story you believe in the Trayvon/Zimmerman saga, the one thing that both sides can agree on is that the media and Race Corporations are not your friends. Privatize racial dialogues and because These parties thrive on conflict and they are the suppliers of dissension and the profiteers of mayhem.
…And let’s hope that the U.S of KKKA will elect the first black president soon (African American to cover all my bases).
